Human Services Technology

Progress in your life, as you help others progress in theirs

Going out of your way to help others is a good thing, but choosing to make your career about helping others is a SPECIAL thing. There is nothing more rewarding than knowing you have made a positive impact on someone’s life. Here at Western Piedmont Community College, our Human Services Technology program can help you gain the knowledge and skills necessary to lead a career out of making those impacts on a regular basis. Skills such as crisis management, case management, intake and assessment, interviewing techniques, psychology, and sociology are just an example of the tools you will learn to use to help others progress in their lives.

So where can I work?

Everybody needs help at some point in their lives. Some people need more help than others, and some people don’t like to admit that they need help when they really do. This is where you come in. WPCC will prepare you for positions in institutions and agencies that provide both grass roots and systemic opportunities toward social, community, and educational empowerment and change. Job titles in this line of work include and are not limited to: social work assistant, care coordinator, community support specialist, case management aide, community outreach worker, etc.

Occupational Outlook

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the occupational outlook for human services assistants is projected to grow 13% from 2018 to 2028, much faster than the average for all occupations.
