A Career That Adds Up To Success!
WPCC’s Accounting & Finance program prepares you for careers in the fast-paced business world in the areas of accounting and finance. You will develop skills in gathering, analyzing, and reporting financial data.
Courses include accounting, finance, business law, management, economics, and taxation. You will also use a variety of computer applications to study financial data and develop related reports. In addition, you will study federal and state tax laws to learn how to prepare different types of tax returns.

If you graduate with an Associate in Applied Science Degree, Diploma, or a Certificate in Accounting & Finance at WPCC, you will be prepared entry-level positions in

Statistics from ONET Online suggest that the salary (median to high) range for associate degree positions in North Carolina is from $30,000 to $40,000 per year.
Each spring, students in the ACC 227 – Practices in Accounting capstone course have the option to participate in a local Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).This experience provides a vital service to our local community, while also allowing our students the chance to gain invaluable hands-on experience in the field. Earlier in the program of study, students receive training on tax preparation software during the ACC 129 – Individual Income Taxes course.

Associate in Applied Science Degree
WPCC’s two-year program has 67 hours of coursework in a variety of accounting, business and finance topics. It offers you the most options for potential careers.
Accounting & Finance Diploma
WPCC offers a one-year introductory diploma program that introduces the basic principles and skills used in accounting, preparing you for an accounting career.
General Accounting Certificate
The Certificate in General Accounting at WPCC covers basic accounting principles, taxes, and spreadsheets. It is designed to help you better understand bookkeeping and financial data.
Finance Certificate
The Finance Certificate at WPCC focuses on an introduction to financial management strategies and techniques for both personal and business applications.
Computerized Accounting Certificate
WPCC‘s Computerized Accounting Certificate focuses on software applications and how to apply accounting principles through them. It is for both those new to accounting and those who wish to upgrade their skills.
